Slatter’s probably qualifies as a ‘heterotopia’- a counter-arrangement within the ‘normal’ organization of a studiously normal town. Slatter’s accommodates people who don’t match the norms of college-town living; Slatter’s residents are pretty typical Californians. (cont)
